Fluids Intake
A person complaining of water weight gain should substantially increase water or fluids intake. Sufficient water content in the body improves the way kidney functions which on the other hand send signals to the brain to expel excessive water in the body. Presence of excess salt in the body causes it to retain water as a method of self preservation. For example, the salt present in urine makes the body to retain water. Ample of water in the body will cause dilution of salts which will then be flushed out.
Apple cider vinegar is a popular home remedy for edema. Just add 2 tablespoon of it to water and take it two times per day for effective results. If the mixture does not suit your taste buds, you can add a little honey to it to make it more palatable.
Diet
As has already been mentioned that excessive salt triggers water weight gain, one should avoid consuming excess salt. Say no to salty foods and give up the habit of adding extra pinches of salt to properly cooked food.
Include more fresh fruits such as grapes, pineapple, etc. and green leafy vegetables such as green beans, onion, beets, pumpkin, garlic, etc. into your diet. Whole grains, seeds and nuts are also a great way to fight water weight gain. Red meat intake should be limited and you should rely more on lean proteins such as fish and tofu.
