Herbs for Atonic Constipation

Atonic or “flaccid” constipation is the name given to the constipation due to a lazy lifestyle which lacks enough physical activity and a diet good in fiber content.
Regular use of laxatives may cause irritation in the bowels to push on the stools. This constant irritation can significantly disturb the GIT and lead to a weaker system. It may also get damaged, raising the risk of diverticulosis. So, here are some trusted herbal remedies for relieving atonic constipation.
Isapgula is one remedy which will never fail your trust. You can put 1 tablespoon of seeds into a glass of boiling water. When cool, drink the gelatinous mixture. The flavor of this remedy is not palatable. You may add juice of grapes of pineapple add flavor to the remedy.
Drink warm water early morning, empty stomach. This will save you a lot of time in the morning. Cut fresh tomatoes into two halves, sprinkle some black pepper on them and eat it. This is an excellent remedy to clear the system early morning or whenever you wake up from your sleep. Additionally, this remedy helps in killing worms in stomach.
You can buy Chinese rhubarb tincture and consume 10-20 from of it in a glass of water thrice daily. The tincture is prepared from the root of the rhubarb which is considered as a powerful herbal laxative.
If stress (physical or mental) is the cause of your constipation then take help of chamomile or valerian. These herbs, in addition of having laxative properties, are anti-stress herbs too. You can obtain tincture for both. Put half tablespoon of both the herbs in a glass of water and consume thrice daily. Cramp bark can also be added for a stronger effect.
You may prepare an herbal decoction at home. Take equal quantities of liquorice, yellow dock and dandelion and boil them together water. Drink it everyday before meals. The decoction is safe enough to be consumed three times a day.
Unless you follow a diet rich in fiber content, consume enough water and exercise daily, there is no permanent cure to the constipation. Normally, the food will take about 12 hours to completely pass the entire system. So, it is normal to excrete just once daily.
