Hair Care during Winter Season
Winter season is about to arrive. Many of you must be getting tensed and already feeling the cold and dry winter breeze blow on your body. Here are some important points to keep your hair healthy and preventing them from getting damaged during winter season.
Avoid washing hair excessively as your scalp and hair remain dry most of the time during this season. One should avoid shampooing hair daily as it takes off all the natural oils and makes hair dull and dry. Those who want to wash their hair daily should preferably use a herbal shampoo or a mild shampoo that is less chemical-based.
Don’t go outside with wet hair as it breaks your hair. While going out, wear a silk scarf or a cap to protect your hair from direct exposure to cold wind. Avoid use woolen scarf or cap as they can damage your hairline Also, make sure not to tie the scarf or cap tightly as it obstructs the circulation of blood in your scalp.
Winter season compels us to take bath, using hot water. However, one should completely avoid hot showers or using hot water for washing hair as heat damages the hair. Instead, prefer using normal or warm water for washing hair.
During winter season, trim split ends once in 15-20 days as it is the proper time for split ends to move up to hair shafts.
Moisture is necessary for hair. Massaging with Aloe Vera juice or any herbal oil replenishes the hair moisture. To retain the hair moisture and reinforce their softness, massage at least twice in a week.
Apply a good conditioner after washing and it is recommended to wash hair in running water after applying a conditioner. This will bolt the moisture in hair and closes the hair cuticle.
Last but not the least; don’t overuse blow dryers, curling iron, streaking, coloring or crimping during winter. Try to use them as less as possible. If you are going for a party and want to use, use dryer with ‘cool’ setting and also avoid keeping your hair open as cold and chilly winds would brittle your hair. Different style such as French twist, a French braid, bob-cut, and shags are very common during winter season.
