Frequent Headaches
Frequent headaches are definitely not a sign of a healthy individual. These may occur due to many reasons like excess stress, lack of sleep, lack of nutrition, physical exhaustion or due to some medical condition.
Types
Primarily there are three types of headaches. These are migraine headache, cluster headache and tension-type headaches.
The ones due to migraine feel as an unbearable pulsating ache in the entire headache or half at a time. It is often accompanied by nausea and vomiting.
Tension type headache is said to cause tightness in neck and brain areas from behind and the entire head. This kind of headache does not increase with physical work but rather feels better by indulging in some busy activity.
Cluster headaches are uncommon and occur as episodes. The headache is in pulsating form and can occur 6 to 8 times in a day of about 10-15 minutes of duration
Remedies
Mixture of fever few and bay is helpful in bringing relief to any type of headache. The mixture is often available as an over-the-counter remedy. Feverfew herb provides such nutrients which is able to regulate mood hormones of the body.
An icepack, when applied to the paining area may be help. This remedy should not be done if headache has occurred due to cold.
Ginger and garlic are strong antioxidants. Anti-inflammatory powers of ginger are well known. Consuming ginger or taking ginger as a significant part of a daily supplement capsule (or pill) proves to be helpful in treating frequent headaches.
Drinking green tea during afternoon meal helps in preventing stress related headaches. Chamomile tea is equally soothing and de-stresses the nerves.
Application of a thick coat of curd on the head may just do the trick. Listening to soft music may be helpful. In case of tension-type headache, music may not be helpful. Remember not to wear headphones as they may aggravate the headache.
Thinly sliced cold cucumber is helpful in improving circulation and calming down the mind. Keep them on forehead.
Role of Diet
Avoid excess consumption of coffee, alcohol and tea. Caffeine may be able to calm down the headache but in excess cause trouble in sleeping and hence may lead to tension-type headache.
