Eyes need to be treasured. Ask those who are deprived of this gift. Nevertheless, those of us much blessed hardly understand the importance of caring for eyes.
Did you know that there are over 12 most common form of eye problems? These include Color Blindness, Blepharitis, Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, Astigmatism, Strabismus, Cataracts, Myopia, Low vision, Blindness, Presbyopia, Eye infection.
Sun is biggest enemy for your eyes. Those days of summer when you do not where sun glasses, much long term harm occurs to your eyes. Wear sunglasses especially made for protection against UV rays.
Do not look at computer, book or blackboard continuously for a very long time. Blink eyes frequently and use OTC eye drops for general eye cleansing. Splash fresh water to eyes as and when you feel stress in your eyes. Regular work stress and decreased sleep hours are reflected in the form of dark circles. Life-style habits like alcohol and smoking cause much harm by depleting free radical fighting source in body, especially Vitamin C.
Also, as the age proceeds, dark spots appear due to accumulation of fat in the lower eye lids. Cosmetics (concealer) are an effective option but it is always better to treat such eyes with cucumber or potato slices for 15 minutes daily.
If not possible on daily basis then do it atleast on the alternate days. With age, the revitalization capacity of the skin especially under the eye ceases. Fat bags are common problem in elderly women. Try taking extra supplementation of Vitamin C. Do consult your doctor before taking any such medication.
Although other biological conditions like PMS, other menstrual disorders, thyroid, hormonal imbalance and hereditary factors also cause weak and dull eyes, regular care of eyes is must to keep stress at bay. As far as your diet is concerned, include proteins, vitamins and iron items. Almond oil, cucumber juice and slices and lemon juice. Rub both hands against each other and apply these warm hands on your eyes. The warmth provides relief.
