Exercises During Pregnancy

The phase of pregnancy may act as a blessing for your body if only you knew how to handle it. The pregnancy can be more fun than just dealing with morning sickness, frequent nausea and vomiting. One thing to take your mind off such trifle things is exercising.

Benefits of Exercises in pregnancy in more ways than one and contrary to many orthodox conceptions it is necessary in every pregnancy. You must know how to choose the correct type of exercises.

Exercising during pregnancy does a lot for your system. It gets your ready for the tough time during delivery of the baby. It will help you keep a check on unnecessary weight gain during pregnancy.

Also, the endorphins released naturally during work-out helps in dealing with mood swings and stress during pregnancy. They give you a feeling of well being. Endorphins are natural pain killers too. Therefore, it will build your body stronger to deal with labor pains.

You will have to avoid any exercise that will put pressure on your stomach (uterus). Also, do not go for any such work out that will need you to carry weights. Swimming and cycling are good options provided you do not overdo them. Long walks are the best form of workout during pregnancy.  Brisk walking, jogging and skipping are strictly prohibited. Low-impact aerobics is also a good option.

One of the most necessary practices to be done during pregnancy is of breathing exercise. You can either learn to do these under supervision of a woman who has already gone through her pregnancy and knows these well. You can also monitor yourself.

To start with, breathe normally. Observe your breathing habit. Inhale and exhale as you normally do and watch if your belly rises and falls in a rhythmic manner. Note if your clothing is affecting your breathing in any way. Be in this state for about 15 minutes. Next, lie down and note if your breathing rhythm has changed. The next step is to breath consciously, inhale deeply and exhale slowly. Empty out your lungs.

During the labor pains, you may have to inhale through nose and exhale through mouth. You may try doing that as well. Avoid exercising in hot much heat or cold weather. Also, avoid standing for long hours.
