ED or erectile dysfunction is what men don’t like to talk about. It is directly related to their sexual performance with their partner and is obviously a very sensitive issue.

Erectile dysfunction is a disorder in men in which penis erection does not occur sufficiently to suffice sexual expectations. Frequent occurrence of this condition is called erectile dysfunction but an occasional lack of erection is common in about 10% of all the men.

In their life time at least once, each male experience insufficient erection. About 80% of men over the age of 50 and about 7% of men between the age group of 18 to 30 suffer from elective dysfunction.

There are many reasons to be blamed for development of erectile dysfunction. A simple lack of interest in sex may be one reason. Excessive stress and depression due to work-place or in relationships is another major factor for ED.

According to one study, cycling too causes erectile dysfunction in certain males. But the major factors to completely credit for the condition are smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. They not just cause ED but they also decrease the testosterone levels in male and boost production of estrogen hormone. Health conditions such as diabetes, peptic ulcer, and atherosclerosis may also be causes of ED. There are many treatments available.

One is using an IV for erection before having sex. Due this method, for obvious discomfort is not very popular. For those whose testosterone levels have dropped considerably can take hormonal supplementation, only after prescription by the physician, so as to increase performance during sex.

In couples with relationship conflicts, sex therapy is given. Penile implants are the last solution after all treatments have failed. Generally, a healthy life-style is enough to rejuvenate potency in men
if it is not severe. Eating a balanced diet and staying happy is the best daily dose for everyone.
