Dental Cavities in Children

Children are very much prone to cavities. The reason is that they eat sweets, chocolates which are high in sugar and also in carbohydrates. Milk and juice both contain sugar which remain in the teeth overnight and be the cause for the same.

In infants or children who drink milk from bottle are at higher risk of getting cavities. Sleeping with bottle in the mouth is also dangerous. Due to this condition the caries are more prone to upper teeth.

Avoiding Cavities

To avoid cavities we should train and care our children to drink milk from glass or sipper. Also brushing is very much important. Brushing twice is necessary for the children as well as adults. Tooth paste should definitely contain fluoride. Flossing also becomes necessary after the age of two for your child. Keep on changing the toothbrush after month as the bristles of the brush get frayed and do not clean the teeth properly.

Whenever the children want to drink any sugar based drink then ask them to use straws by this the teeth do not come in contact as the drink directly goes inside.

Do not let your child eat foods high in sugar rather give him a balanced and nutritious diet. Make a routine for dental checkup. Parents should also keep on checking the teeth of the children. If you see some brown spots this is the beginning of the cavity so consult the doctor immediately by this you cab prevent further damage tot eh tooth. Otherwise a situation could be developed that the tooth has to be removed which is very painful for the children.

As lime is a good source of vitamin C it is very useful in maintaining dental hygiene and is also good for the bones. Due to this lime helps to prevent dental caries, toothache, bleeding gums and many more dental diseases.
