Dealing With Jet Lag

Jet lag is name given to the condition of the body in which the body clock takes time to adjust to the new time zone.

The symptoms of jet lag include lethargy, fatigue, body ache, trouble in focusing at one thing, diarrhea and loss of appetite. But with a few important tips you can prevent jet lag.

During a long journey many people believe that alcohol will help them sleep for a longer period, making the journey more tolerable. But alcohol acts as a diuretic and dehydrates the body hence increasing symptoms of jet lag.

Another common mistake that people make is taking a nap. One hour of nap is sufficient and the duration must not exceed more than this. Frequent napping during journey makes the body lazy and hence greater chance of jet lag.

One interesting way of dealing with jet lag is by using sun rays. Experts believe that the rays of sun help in activating the body and help it in coping up with the surrounding time zone.

The rays of sun offer different intensity at different time of the day. It has been found that a person who is travelling towards east should get out of plan at the time of morning sun. Likewise, if one is travelling towards west then try to land the place by afternoon sun.

A quick spot jogging can simply activate your body and significantly reduce jet lag symptoms. Be more involved to your surroundings. No sooner do you land at a place start watching the surrounding, asking questions to your escort, etc. The more you will keep your mind active the better it will be.

Socializing with the person sitting next to you in plane is yet another good idea. The more attentive and aware you ask your body to be the better it would be. Drink plenty of fluids and eat fruits between the intervals. The fluids and fruits will keep you hydrated hence prevent fatigue.

When you know you are suppose to catch a flight sleep for extra 15-30 minutes. If you feel sleepy right before your flight the jet lag will be worse.
