Dealing With Alopecia
September 16, 2009
The rise in alopecia or excess hair loss is equally alarming in men and women. The factors that cause alopecia include skin problems like eczema, fungal infections and psoriasis.
Sudden weight loss, excess masturbation, thyroid trouble, diabetes and pregnancy may also lead to excessive hair loss. Emotional and physical stresses are equally powerful to cause significant hair loss.
Make Some Changes
Once the cause of your hair loss has been indentified and the treatment has started you may actually flaunt your temporary baldness. Get a hair style that suits you with less hair. Also, pick up a trendy wig and let people wonder if you have had an over-night surgery. If wigs are not your style then go for hat shopping.
Take care of your hair and do not take any risk on them. This means no use of hot rollers, hair straightness, perms or chemical treatments of any type.
Learn to deal with stress in a healthy manner. Exercise and do medication but keep stress at bay. The more you worry the more hair would be lost.
Try meeting fellow alopecia patients. This will help you in accepting that your are not the only one.
Take a purple skin onion and peel it off. Take a piece and rub it hard on the bald area until it becomes red. Apply some honey on this area. This will promote hair growth.
Increase your intake of vitamin E and zinc. These are available in the form of tablets as well as topical lotions.
Stop using strong shampoos and use only herbal products. One hour before washing your hair soaks some shikakai and amla powder in water so as to prepare a thick paste. Rub the paste into the scalp by making partitions and apply the rest of the paste all over the hair. Keep for 5-10 minutes and wash off. These herbs work both as cleansers and conditions.
Heat petals of hibiscus flower with coconut oil. You may put fenugreek seeds into it. Apply the warm mixture to the scalp using cotton. Keep it overnight and wash off in morning using shikakai paste.
Scalp surgery is the last resort to deal with alopecia.
