Correct Ways To Use Computer

Using computers is an avoidable task for almost everyone nowadays. It has become a basic necessity. But, there are many health related hazards associated with the wrong use of different computer parts especially the keyboard and the mouse.
Wrong and careless arrangement of the computer screens, keyboard and mouse can lead to numerous health problems. These include eyestrain, strain injuries and posture related issues. Some already present health issues may even get aggravated through this.
Some of the commonly encountered problems include frequent headache, easy fatigue, lethargy, blurred vision, increased lacrimation, dizziness, tingling, pain in upper extremities, etc. Association of ill-managed computer work and carpal tunnel syndrome is also reported worldwide.
Tips To Correct Computer Use
While working in front of the computer for long, make yourself comfortable. Adjust the positions of the screen, keyboard and mouse according to your comfort. Make sure that there is enough space to use mouse. Rest your wrists when not typing. Keep your body relaxed and donot over stretch.
The arms should be placed horizontally parallel to the floor and the elbow should be placed a little higher than the height of the keyboard.
While using the keyboard, keep your wrist straight and horizontal to the floor. You should not let the wrists rest on a hard surface while working. When required, wrist rest made up of gel placed at the same height as the keyboard is recommended.
Keyboard and mouse must be placed in front of the monitor so as to prevent the frequent movement of the head. The shorter the keybord, the better it is. Also, the
keyboard and the mouse should be closely placed to each other and at the same height.
Use both of your hands while using key combinations (shift, Ctrl or Alt keys). Constant gripping of the mouse should also be avoided.
Whenever possible, try to combine your computer work with some other work, away from the screen. Taking a break of 1-2 minutes after every 30 minutes of continuous work proves beneficial.
