Corns In A Foot..Help!

Corns are the thick areas formed on the skin due to regular pressure exerted on certain areas like foot. They are hard and circular in shape and are formed to protect the skin below them.

Types of Corns

When pressure is exerted on the corns they cause pain and walking becomes difficult. These are called hard corns. These are mainly formed on the top and outside the toes. They may also be caused due to wearing very tight shoes or socks.

There are soft corns also that are caused due to abnormalities in the feet. They occur between the toes. These are very common in women who wear high heel shoes. People with wide toes also suffer from this problem. So, the people with broad toes should wear broad shoes.

Treatment

Hard corns sometimes become too hard that have to burnt or cut using some chemicals but they can reoccur after doing this. Therefore surgery is done to remove the corns, which make the toes non-flexible.

There are various home remedies to cure corns and also to get instant relief from them. Tie a lemon slice on the corn for sometime, as this would heal the corn. Aspirin tablet mixed with lemon juice helps to reduce the pain of the corn and one can walk easily. Rubbing an ice pack on the corn area helps to reduce the swelling and pain.

Cut a piece of pineapple and wrap it over the corn for the whole night. This would help to treat the corn completely and if done regularly it won’t let it come again. Used tea bags if warped around the corn are also very useful.

Preventing Corns

To prevent corns from occurring one should regularly trim the nails of the toes and should not let the nails remain on the sides. Always wear comfortable shoes and socks and they should not too tight and not too loose. Never share your shoes.

Have a well balanced diet. Diet also plays an important role in the prevention of corns.

Never cut the corns by yourself otherwise they make the situation worst by spreading the infection and may also cause heavy bleeding which cannot be controlled by yourself. If the situation gets out of control then consult the doctor.
