Control That Itch

Itching is an urge to scratch your skin. Itching can be due to many reasons. Itching with no skin abnormalities can be treating using localized ointments. But itching due to skin irritation should be consulted with the doctor. As such itching is not a serious problem.

Causes

There could be endless causes for itching. Dry skin is the most common for itching. Stress and anxiety also lead to itching. Sunburn areas also develop itching. Some medical conditions like kidney and liver diseases, hyperthyroidism and infection to some medicines can be the cause for the same.

Itching is a simple allergic reaction which can be caused by any sort of allergy. Some sort of itching is caused by body lice such as head lice and pubic lice. Ring worms also cause itching.

Diet plays an important role in very disease. Taking a well balanced diet is very healthy. Patients suffering from itching should take fresh fruits and vegetables. One should note the food product, the consumption of which causes or increases itching. Vitamin B and E are effective in controlling itching. Taking a salt free diet also helps to reduce itching.

Home Remedies

There are several home remedies to control itching. Take lemon juice, aloe vera gel and oil rich in vitamin E, mix them and apply on the affected area. This would soothe the skin and control itching.

Persons suffering from itching should not take bath in hot water but in luke warm water. Adding vinegar extracted from apple to the bath tub is also a useful home remedy. This soothes the skin and reduces itching. Baking soda and oat meals can also be added to the bath tub to reduce itching.

If itching is in one particular area apply Vicks vapor rub. This is a very effective remedy. Always keep the skin coated with coconut oil with a little bit of lemon juice in it. Neem is also good for any skin irritations. Apply neem oil or take neem bath. This would help in itching.

Person suffering from problem of itching should avoid exposure to sun. Always apply a soothing lotion after bath. Never scratch your skin harshly this makes the things worst.
