Constipation Care

Constipation often occurs due to lack of enough water and fiber in the diet. Excess consumption of foods like cheese, meat, ice cream, packaged snacks and frozen foods are prime factors of constipation.
Constipation must not be ignored since it plays vital role in detoxification of body. Apart from significant uneasiness experienced, persistent constipation may lead to irritated behavior and increase in toxin level inside the body.
Remedies or cure for constipation
Age related and temporary constipation can be treated using home remedies but for decreased bowel movement due to some medical condition or medication one must consult the doctor.
The first step is to drink enough water (8 to 10 glass/day) and include fresh fruits and salad in your daily meals.
Many people use OTC laxatives in excess. These damage the nerves over a period of time and increase constipation. It interferes with normal functioning of the colon to contract and pass on the stools and waste. One needs to stop using them and instead opt for natural laxatives like fiber-rich fruits and salad.
Constipation during pregnancy is normal due to hormonal changes. Drinking a warm cup of milk before going to bed is helpful.
First to do early morning is to drink 2-3 glasses of warm water. It aids in passing of stools more comfortably.
In case of constipation for several days, add 2 tbsp of castor oil to a cup of warm milk; consume it. Chances are your system will start to get cleared immediately. Make sure to do this remedy on a holiday since you will need to use toilet frequently for the day.
One may squeeze a lemon in warm glass of water and sip it slowly. Do not use any additives. Avoid white bread. Try to eat home cooked food. Avoid fatty food.
Eating 2 bananas in morning in breakfast will help. Give up non-vegetarian food for some time. Otherwise it will only increase the trouble. Vegetables like cauliflower and cabbage tend to increase constipation.
Try to use spices like cumin powder and turmeric powder while cooking food. These increase digestibility of the foods.
Exercise regularly. If one is experiencing constipation lately due to too much of sitting, try taking an hour walk and feel the difference.
