Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Remedies
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, shortly referred to as COPD, is a term for the symptoms and conditions that creates obstruction in the air passages or bronchi as well as damages the alveoli (air sacs) in the lungs. This results in impaired breathing. There are mainly two disorders that make up the COPD- Emphysema and Chronic Bronchitis. Sometimes it is found that a combination of both the disorders is present in many patients. If we go into the detailing, chronic bronchitis is a kind of an inflammation in the bronchial tubes in the lungs.
This creates a lot of cough along with mucus. The cells that are lining the walls of the air passage, if are irritated beyond the threshold, then the cilia stops functioning properly, i.e., it stops trapping foreign particles that tries to enter the body. This creates excess mucus that blocks the airways and causes heavy bronchitis.
Emphysema is the damage done to the lungs over a period of time. The tissue of the alveoli gets destroyed and the elasticity is also lost. The lungs are damaged by the nicotine and the carbon coming from a cigarette smoke or the inflammation of chronic bronchitis, if all these prolong then it loosens and enlarges the alveoli.
The Symptoms Of COPD:
Breathing problems, shortened breath: Due to the alveoli blockage and loosening, the breath gets shortened, and full air passing fails to take place.
Chronic dry cough and mucus producing cough: Consistent dry cough and mucus producing cough in the morning is a symptom of COPD. The cilium stops functioning causing the cough.
Exhalation problems: While you exhale, you will feel that there is a certain thing that is stopping you from exhaling properly.
Chest pain: Severe COPD shall also cause chest pain and coughing up of blood.
The Remedies Or The Treatments Of COPD:
The standard treatments and their options are to be understood well critically if we are looking at achieving the distant goals of maintaining optimal health for the patients. Here, we focus on the treatments of COPD, both medically and naturally.
Medical Treatments Of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease:
Inhaled bronchodilators: These are the medication inhaled into the lungs. It provides relaxation to the muscles of the air passages and helps to open up and clear the mucus. Inhaled bronchodilators provide a temporary relief to the breathing problems. The inhaler is to be used as prescribed by the physician.
Inhaled corticosteroids: These are the glucocorticoid compounds that are applied directly to the tissues in the respiratory zone. Nasal polyps, allergic rhinitis etc are treated with intranasal deposition into the nasal passages. If further deposition is required, steroids are used like in case of chronic asthma.
Theophylline: It is a methylxanthine drug which is used to cure respiratory diseases by relaxing the bronchial muscle, helping in better contraction and efficiency of the heart, anti-inflammation etc.
The Prevention And Natural Cures Are:
Do not smoke and drink lots of water to loosen up the mucus secretions. Caffeine is to be avoided. If you have chronic bronchitis, then you can change the place you stay in. Move to a place that is warmer and drier. Do not get in contact with a person who has got some viral infections as it may catch you too, increasing the inflammation inside. Breathing exercises too can be done which might help in curing COPD.
