Care For Feet That Wear Heels

High Heels Disturb the Posture

The S-curve of the body is significantly harmed by wearing heels for a long period of time. The S-curve works as a natural shock absorber. Heels tend to make us lean forward while walking.

This increases the curve of the posterior body and decreases curve of the front body, thus disturbing the natural alignment. This often leads to stressed muscles due to over use, usually accompanied by a back ache.

Hip flexor muscle is most commonly overused due to constant use of heels. Stressed muscles become cause of spine problems, fatigue, acute back and foot aches.

At the end of the day, soak your feet in warm water for 30 minutes. You may add some left-over activator powder as provided with marketed bleaching preparations. Else, you may add salt.

After this, pat dry your feet and massage them with an oil based foot lotion. It could be peppermint based, olive oil, mint or rosemary. This will improve blood circulation immediately and help in stimulating the nerve endings. Once the lotion has been soaked up by the feet apply a good foot moisturizer and let it work for whole night.

Exercise for Stronger Feet

Place a tennis ball (soft ball) under your feet while sitting. Roll the ball forward and backward by keeping the ball under your feet all the time. You may do this exercise while sitting in office or while watching television.

Rotate your ankles clockwise and anticlockwise 10 times per foot everyday. This will help in strengthening of the ankle. You may do it slowly or rapidly as comfortable to you. Remove your footwear before doing this exercise.

One exercise that is good for your legs also is done by taking your right leg forward and bending it so that the left leg is straight and stretched. Repeat this exercise by putting your left leg forward. Do this 10 times for each leg every day.

Role of diet

Maintain a diet which will keep you nourished and promotes better blood circulation. Drink lots of water. Try to include ample amount of roughage in your diet to prevent disturbed bowel movements.
