Care For Dry Skin
Wrinkles are most likely to appear early on a dry skin. Dry skin is often accompanied by dullness and darkening of the skin in patches.
Causes
Medications like antispasmodics, antihistamines, diuretics tend to make the skin dry. Diabetic and thyroid patients too have to deal with dry skin in addition to other skin troubles. Over the counter skin remedies often fail to help. Consult a dermatologist for skin dryness due to medications or health problems.
A diet lacking in enough vitamin A and B may also cause dry skin. Excess exposure to winter air, use of harsh soap or wrong cosmetics may cause dryness of the skin.
Prevention
Alcoholic toners dry the skin. Be careful while buying toner for yourself. Use cleansing milk or other hydrating solutions to clean your skin. Avoid using tap water to wash your face. Tap water often contains drying chemicals like fluoride and chlorine and hence dries the skin more.
Instead, you may use cold water and ice to clean the face. Just because one has dry skin it does not mean that cleansing is least important. Choose a soft and hydration preparation for daily cleansing and toning purpose.
Remember never to rub your skin and always pat dry. Avoid use of hot tubs and hot showers. Heat will only make the skin more dry and itchy. If you can not avoid it due to winters then apply body lotion as soon as you are done with it. Always wear skin friendly clothes.
Face Packs
It is vital to apply regular masks and packs for dry skin care. One simple remedy is to apply mayonnaise (homemade) directly on the skin for 20 minutes and then wash off with slightly warm water.
Take two egg whites and apply directly on the face and neck region. Do not beat them. After it has dried completely, wipe off gently with cotton ball dipped in cold water.
Crush onion peels to get juice (1 tbsp). Add 1 tbsp of honey to it and apply on the face and neck region. You will need to bear with the smell in order to get a hydrated, blemish-free skin.
