Care and Remedies for Acidity
Acidity must be taken seriously. If untreated it may lead to peptic ulcer disease. In acidity, the acidic secretions in the stomach like HCL, pepsin, etc are released even in absence of food. This leaves them with just one option and that is to corrode the cells of the stomach.
Hence an acidity patient must never ignore hunger. Symptoms of acidity include burning sensation in the chest, nausea, vomiting and inability to ignore hunger. Chewing of fresh Tulsi (basil) leaves gives instant relief from burning sensation. Eating small quantities of jaggery after every meal is a good habit of keeping acidity at bay.
You need to neutralize the acids in your GIT. This can be done by drinking water regularly. Cold milk helps in bringing immediate to heartburn and acidity. Consumption of raw garlic with warm water early morning empty stomach helps in finishing problem of acidity completely.
Having mint tea and green tea with afternoon meals helps in avoiding acidity problems. These drinks must be sipped slowly along with the meals. Avoid caffeinated teas. You may prepare a mixture of equal quantities of amla juice and chebulic myrpblan. Take 2 tbsp of this mixture each day to keep acidic secretions under control.
When you feel uneasy with acidity, take a piece of clove and suck it slowly. The juices will give you relief. Drinking 60 to 120 ml juice of pumpkin is helpful in relieving acidity. Natural apple cider vinegar (2 tsp) and honey (2 tsp) can be taken in a glass of water before all meals. This prevents heartburn.
You will need to make sure of certain other things in daily routinel. You must sleep with your head on pillow. This will provide elevation to your body and hence prevent acids from coming up to the throat. A person who has regular complaints of acidity must avoid eating very spicy food. Eating a balanced diet with just optimal use of spices is enough.
