Cancer: The Crab
All living things are made up of cells and human body is made up of about three trillion cells. These cells reproduce by dividing themselves into two. So, every second many new cells are formed.
Sometimes something can go wrong and one cell keeps on dividing again and again. So, the cells that reproduce and grow in uncontrolled manner are known to be cancerous and are very harmful.
When these cancerous cells divide they form a cluster that are known as a tumour. Presence of these tumors affect one or other body functions such as cancer in stomach affects the digestion and cancer in uterus affects the reproduction. Cancer in one part of the body can also spread to other parts if not treated and becomes very dangerous as it can go out of control and becomes dangerous to a person’s life.
Cancer if detected in early stage can be treated. One should go for regular medical check-up. People, who are detected with cancer in early stages can only survive.
Doctors remove the tumors if possible and cells around the area so that cancerous cells do not spread in the surrounding areas. If the cancer is detected in early stages there are various treatments depending upon the stage of cancer.
Chemotherapy is one of the treatments given to the cancer patients. In this strong medicine used destroys the cancerous cell. It has some side effects including destruction of healthy cells of the body making the person feel sick.
There are no ways to stop cancer, as there is no reason known why cells divide in such uncontrolled manner. But some conditions known to be the risk factors must definitely be avoided like we know that smoking can cause lung cancer.
So one should not smoke or atleast do less smoking. Researchers also say eating high fatty foods and red meat also causes cancer. People develop skin cancer if they are exposed to sun in excess.
