After tenure of 9 months when the baby finally arrives the very first duty that mother has towards it is to feed it. Breast feeding is a technique not learnt overnight.

The theoretical knowledge can obviously be acquired to stay  prepared but the actual act of comforting yourself and your baby to breast feeding will only come with time. And nature provides us with good amount of time. Breast feeding is beneficial for mental as well as for physical health of you and your baby. Here is what you need to know about Breast feeding.

Breast feeding will protect your baby from many problems. The first thick milk from mother’s breast is essential for development of a psychological bond between the child and the mother. This milk is the perfect combination of necessary nutrients like antibodies, fats, carbohydrates and proteins. The immune system of the baby is boosted and it is well protected from any form of infections. It has been proved scientifically that babies fed on breast milk are less likely to suffer from common diseases like colds, flu, and diarrhea as well as various forms of allergies. They are also well guarded against asthma, pneumonia, ulcerative colitis, Crohn`s disease and insulin dependent diabetes.

This was all about your baby. Now let’s see what you benefit substantially from breast feeding. Firstly, the very culture of breast feeding will provide you a peace of mind that you are a mother now. As far as health benefits are concerned, regular breast feeding prevents you against Breast cancer during the phase of premenopause. It also provides you with defense against osteoporosis, ovarian cancer. The best part being that you are able to lose your maternity weight very easily.

Breast feeding will require you to feed yourself extra 500 calorie of nutrients. You must have balanced meals because what you eat will be filtered to your baby.
