Body Odor: Cause And Remedies

It is misconception that body odor problem only occurs in summers. It is a trouble in winter too especially for people who are unable to take bath regularly due to the cold weather. Unhealthy hygiene habits are the most common cause of body odor.Those suffering from skin problems such as psoriasis, eczema or zits often smell bad because of frequent growth of bacterial growth. Obesity, jaundice and kidney diseases are some of the medical conditions responsible for body odor.
Choose good quality body care products that contain antibacterial agents. Wearing clothes made up of synthetic material may increase body odor problem. It has been found that body odor could also be genetically inherited.
Remedies
Increase your consumption of water in order to improve detoxification. Squeeze lemon juice and freshly cut papaya, consume every day. It is a great body detoxifier.
Squeeze out ginger juice and mix few drops of lemon. Apply this with cotton to armpits. It is a natural antibacterial solution. One can also grate a turnip and apply the extract to the armpits. It neutralizes the smell of the body.
For excess body odor mix sage leaves paste into tomato juice and apply it on the whole body before taking bath. Wait for 10 minutes and then take bath with an herbal based soap.
Drinking of sage tea helps in decreasing secretion of sweat from the sebaceous glands. Essential oils like lavender, rosemary and tea tree, neem act as natural deodorants. Mix 10 drops of any of these essential oils in 30 ml of water. Use this as a spray on body.
Things to Remember
Stay away from pungent foods like garlic, onion, curry and avoid foods that contain chlorine. Chlorine containing foods are legumes, liver, fish and liver. Processed foods contain hydrogenated oils, sugar, high salt and white flour.
Such foods significantly disturb the metabolism and hence increase body odor. For the same reason red meat should be avoided because the disturbed metabolism may release toxins which cause body to smell bad.
Quit smoking and regulate intake of coffee and alcohol. Women must maintain proper hygiene during their periods. Change the sanitary napkin and tampon after 4 hours of use. Keep the area clean and wear only cotton under wears.
