Benefits of Sweet Almonds Oil
The characteristic nutty fragrance of sweet almonds oil is used liberally in aromatherapy. There is difference between sweet almonds oil and bitter almonds oil.
The sweet almond oil is obtained from the almonds from the plant which bears white flowers in the genus Prunus, whereas the bitter almonds oil is obtained from almonds that are grown on the plant with pink flowers of the same genus.
Sweet almonds oil has more therapeutic value and could be used for internal medication (as home remedies) but bitter almonds oil is more often used as carrier oil in remedies.
Sweet almonds oil is almost carbohydrate free. Also, the flour of almonds is gluten-free. Thus, it is a better option for health conscious people. So, people suffering from coelic disease or those who are allergic to wheat may use almonds flour.
The oil is very popular for its beauty benefits. It does not evaporate and it is not sticky. Hence it can be used as a daily moisturizer. Just a few drops can be rubbed on the palm and applied on the face and neck region. The oil is a strong antioxidant and can help in prevent of aging of the body. In this regard it can be used for skin and hair.
A few drops of sweet almonds oil when massaged round the eyes helps in prevention of wrinkles and sagging.
You may make your own fairness lotion. Mix juice of 4 lemons with 2 tbsp of sweet almond oil. Keep the peels. Take some amount in hand and apply liberally on face and neck region. Use the lemon peel to scrub the face and neck. This will allow better penetration of the mixture into the skin. Keep for 15 to 20 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. Your skin will be visibly fair and supple.
Regular hair massage with just a few drops of the oil helps prevent dandruff and hair fall. It adds shine to the hair and provides with much needed vitamin E.
You may prepare hair masks by mixing 1 tbsp of the oil with 1 tbsp honey and apple cider vinegar. Apply to the roots and leave for 1 hour. For best results wash with shikakai paste.
