Benefits Of Breast-Feeding

Breastfeeding is a very old process, which mostly every mother would have done. It provides many benefits to the baby as the breast milk has many nutrients that are needed by the baby to grow and also it is very light and can be easily digested by the newborn. It is important to breast-feed the baby unless there is any problem with the mother.

Colostrum

Colostrum is the first milk that is produced after childbirth. This is very precious fluid. The body makes it when the woman is pregnant. The body starts making it in fourth or fifth month. This world is full of bacteria and viruses and this colostrum helps the child to fight against these after entering this world, as it is a good source of antibiotics.

Colostrum is a thick fluid. After the childbirth, for some day’s only colostrum is produced and later on it changes to milk when the appetite of the baby also increases. It also helps the baby to eliminate the first stool and is also known as liquid gold for the baby.

Advice for Mothers

It is said that if you breastfeed your baby you would reduce your weight fast as compared to the mothers that do not do breast-feeding or do a little of it. You have to take proper diet when you are lactating. Add fruits and green vegetables in your diet. Do not have spicy food. Have food rich in vitamins and minerals. Do not add much of oil to your diet (as per the old people) as it has nothing to do but to add on your weight.

Water is a part of breast milk. So, it is necessary to drink at least 10-12 glasses of water everyday. You have liquids in other form such as juices and buttermilk. Diet is also important because it is said that the baby absorbs those nutrients via milk. There is no need to give water to the babies that are on breast-feeding.

Alcohol, caffeine, smoking and other harmful things should be avoided as they can enter your baby by the milk, which can be harmful for the little chap.
