Bacterial Prostatitis
Bacterial Prostatitis is the infection in the prostate glands. The nearby organs are also effective and the early symptoms must not be taken lightly. Bacterial Prostatitis is of two types. Both occur due to infection and are –Acute Prostatitis and chronic Prostatitis.
Acute Prostatitis occurs with a sudden onset. There is a sudden pain in prostate. Most probably you may develop a urine infection along with acute bacterial Prostatitis which may lead to cystitis, which is infection of the bladder.
Major symptoms include tenderness of the prostate when touched by the doctor for examination. Pain in Prostatitis can spread to penis and it may become difficult to pass stools.
Some thick form of discharge may come out of the penis through urethra. Plus, there are already urine infection symptoms. Other minor signs include fever and feeling of unwell may be persistent.
On the other hand, chronic bacterial Prostatitis does not spread to nearby regions and may remain on the prostate. It is not as severe as acute Prostatitis but there is tenderness in prostate and general pain and uneasiness.
The cause of Prostatitis is basically lack of hygiene. It is sexually transmitted. Catheters are yet another common cause of bacterial infection, more common in hospitals.
Bacterial residing in bowel may pass through the excretory system to cause infection. It may develop post prostate surgery due to the damage caused o the Prostatitis. It may also develop due to the infection from blood.
To get diagnosed X ray tests are performed. Urine analysis is also done. Urine tests are negative for chronic Prostatitis as there are no signs of bacteria. The treatment for bacterial Prostatitis includes three types of drugs.
This includes Antibiotics, analgesics and laxatives. Antibiotics fight the infection. Analgesics like paracetamol help in relieving the pain and tenderness. Laxatives help in letting stools pass without much discomfort.
