Back Pain Causes and Treatment
Back pain has become one of the most common problems now a day. It has become a major concern, not only for old-aged people, but also for 20’s to 40’s age group people.
Back pain is a pain that generates from spine, which consists of muscles, bones, nerves, joints, ligaments and tendons and can occur in any part of the back.
In this article, we will discuss the causes of back pain, and its treatment.
Causes of Back Pain
Back pain can occur due to various reasons, which are as follows:
Improper sitting postures, sleeping postures, injuries, and obesity affect your back. If proper care is not taken at the right time, it can prolong for months and years.
Musculoskeletal pain syndromes, that includes, Myofascial pain and Fibromyalgia pain causes tenderness, stiffness, fatigue and muscle aches in the body. As a consequence, chronic back pain occurs.
Lumbar Spine Arthritis that affects joints located in the spine causes back pain.
Herniated disc problems also cause back pain.
Pregnant women often complaints for lower back pain as their belly gets enlarged that stretches the spine.
Most women complaints for back pain during menstrual period. It happens due to muscular cramps in abdominal area, uterus contraction at this time, stress, apprehension and inadequate exercise.
Skeletal reasons that include Ostomyelitis and Spondylitis can cause stiffness and pain in the spine area and results in persistent back pain.
Back Pain Treatment (Home Remedies)
Some home remedies and solutions to get relief from back pain are as follows:
Increase the intake of water to detoxify your body and to maintain your weight.
To prevent back pain, eat balanced diet, containing rich quantity of vitamins, especially, Vitamin C and D, calcium, phosphate, and magnesium. Food sources, rich in calcium and magnesium are fish, grains, pumpkin, til (sesame) seeds, and green leafy vegetables. Ragi, dried figs, beet and prunes are also good for your back.
Bring good changes to your life style. Practice Yoga or walk daily for at least half an hour. Even simple stretching exercises can be very beneficial. Eat food at right time. This will help you a lot, to get rid of back pain.
During menstrual period, back pain can be cured by increasing intake of magnesium, Vitamin E and B complex and taking either raspberry tea or chamomile tea.
Give steam to the effected area by using hot towel or hot bag. If you are using hot towel, make sure to squeeze water out from the towel before using it.
Applying warm coconut oil mixed with ginger and garlic on the affected area.
Apply warm mustard oil mixed with a little camphor powder on the affected area.
Apply icepack followed by hot pack (after half an hour) on the affected area.
