Back Pain: Cause And Remedies

A poor posture, obesity, physical and emotional stress are common cause of back ache in daily life. Back ache due to these factors is usually mild and treatable using simple home remedies but there are many health disorders and diseases that cause severe pain in the back.

Causes

Stiffness of the joints in rheumatoid arthritis and degeneration of the joint cartilage in osteoarthritis affects the strength of the back bone significantly and hence the pain.

Back pain in night is common with tumor patients, fibromyalgia patients and pregnant women. Herniated discs, anemia, ankylosing spondylitis, abdominal aortic aneurysm are other reasons for severe back ache.

Back Ache Remedies

Heat therapy almost always works. Fill in rubber bottle with water and keep it near the back to provide heat. Take warm oil massage. Day to day back ache can be handled by sitting in a warm bathtub for 15 to 20 minutes. Infrared lamp can be used for the same purpose.

Fry ten garlic gloves in coconut oil or sesame seed oil at a low flame. Wait until they become brown. Remove from gas and fill it in a container. Allow it to cool down. Apply in circular manner to the painful area before going to sleep. Do this every night for 1 week. See results for your self.

Likewise, fry mustard seeds in ghee (clarified butter). Use it to massage onto the back. Turpentine and mint oil can be applied directly on the back.

Boil potatoes and mash them. Allow them to cool down to a temperature bearable by the skin. Apply the mashed material on the area and tie up the area with bandages. Allow it to work for an hour. Afterwards, take hot bath.

Things to Remember

The way one sleeps greatly affects the health of the back. Choose the sleeping mattress carefully. It should neither be too soft nor too hard. Likewise, do not sit on anything too soft or too hard for a long time.

Women must avoid wearing high heels, especially if they are overweight or have had any foot or leg injury before. Always maintain a straight posture. Try sleeping without a pillow. The spine needs to be straight and comfortable when you lie down.
