Avoiding Dry Skin

Dry skin is a very common problem that can happen to anybody during anytime. But it is more prominent in winters as the low temperature; low humidity and dry winds remove the layer of the skin that helps to keep the skin oily. Like wise people working in places with the above said conditions can also be affected by the problem of dry skin.

Some other factors like under active thyroid gland, skin complications caused by diabetes or improper diet can also lead to dry skin problem.

To avoid having dry skin, you can try some things that would probably help you. In winters, never use very hot water on the skin but use luke warm water as the hot water removes the moisture from the skin. So never use very hot water for bathing or even washing hands.

Another easy way to remove or prevent dryness of the skin is by applying moisturizers. Oils can also be used if the skin is too dry. Use gloves when working in kitchen or using strong cleaners to clean the tiles, tubs, bathrooms etc. Regularly apply moisturizers after the bath and before sleeping at night. By this, you would never have the dry skin problem.

Always watch the quality of soaps or body wash you are using and use good quality products. Also, allow your skin to breathe.

Drink plenty of water to keep the skin moisture level in control. When the water level of the skin decreases one gets dry and itchy skin that leads to many problems.

In the morning before bath, make a mixture of an egg yolk, orange juice, olive oil, rose water and lime juice. Apply this mixture to the body parts and feel the difference.

Milk bath is also useful once a week. Take luke warm water and put some powdered milk and some drops of olive oil in it and relax in a tub. This is a very effective remedy. You can use cold milk on the skin of babies to keep them soft. This is a very old method used on babies.

Take a well balanced diet rich in sulphur content like egg, onions etc. Also eat fresh green vegetables and fruits.
