Apprehending Anxiety

Anxiety or better called as generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by sequential apprehension about almost everything in daily life. The person’s experiences worry about all or most of the issues like office, kids, school, meetings, food they eat, etc.
Generally people under anxiety show symptoms of sweating, tiredness, trembling and difficulty in sleeping. Other symptoms include difficulty in focusing over one particular thing, nausea, muscle stress, irritated
behavior and feel need to go to bathroom frequently. The disorder of anxiety may lead or be present simultaneous with conditions such as depression, drug/alcohol addiction, obsessive-compulsive disorder and panic disorder.
Usually, the environment around is person if influential in a way to initiate this disorder but genetic as well as neurotransmission in brain are also important factors. The environmental factors may include target related stress at work, alcohol and drug indulgence, extreme intake of caffeine daily or experiencing personal conflicts at home or private life. Research says that GAD hits women twice as much as it affects men. Also, it may it at any age to anyone.
An occasional anxiety due to some reason can be taken control of by hitting gym or doing activity that brings happiness. But in case the condition interferes with patient’s daily life so much so that you miss out of school or office, then medical world has some therapies.
The Physician would refer the person to a psychiatrist in absence of any physical illness. Accordingly, the psychologist provides the treatment. Medications of GAD include benzodiazepines or tranquilizers.
These provide relaxation to the patient without inducing sleep. Common benzodiazepines are Ativan, Librium, Valium and Xanax. Cognitive-behavioral therapy provides the patient to look at the
cause of his/her anxiety in a more realistic manner. Here, they learn to control their behaviors.
Anxiety is preventable. Regular exercising, especially brisk walking, and eating balanced diet boosts endorphins in body to provide sponge to negative feelings. In fact, those extremely dependent on coffee, cola and chocolate, can feel relaxed by reducing their consumption.
