Alzheimer And It’s Stages
Till now, cardiovascular diseases, asthma, cancer and diabetes were considered high in the list of life-style diseases. But the % population of people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease is on a rise. The point is anyone could be the victim.
There is no cure for this most common form of Dementia and it gets worse with age. The disease progresses in three stages. Each stage may have a gap of 8-10 years between them. These stages have been classified as Mild, Moderate and Severe. The first stage often passes unidentified. Here are various symptoms from which you may identify the stage.
Mild stage is the first stage and the most common symptom is facing problem in remembering names of common items. One experiences memoryâ€. The patient loses interest in their long-term likeness. They get lost very easily and tend to lose belonging like spectacles, comb, mobile, etc very easily. The patient may not remember if he/she had talked to you before so repeats the same thing over and over again.
In the moderate stage of Alzheimer’s disease the patient will need better supervision. They tend to argue more often in order to convince that they are right. Characteristic symptoms are facing difficulty in choosing what to wear according to the weather or the occasion. The patient may wander during night, unable to sleep. Small tasks like washing dishes, shaving, bathing seem to be difficult for them.
The last and final stage of this sad disease is very unpredictable. The patient has no control on himself at all. He/she may urinate anywhere and be unable to give an explanation. They do not recognize even the close family member which is the most heartfelt symptom. They neither respond in terms of talking nor eating anything.
Alzheimer’s patients need self-less care and supervision. There are specialized centers which provide treatment to prolong the first two stages.
