Alopecia: Cause and Remedies
There are many types of hair loss. Alopecia totalis is complete loss of hair from the head. Alopecia areata is loss of hair in form of patches from the head. Alopecia universalis is name given to loss of hair from all body parts.Cause of Hair Loss
Aging is not the only cause of hair loss. There are many factors that may lead to partial or complete loss of hair. Common cause of hair loss are emotional stress, vitamin A deficiency, deficiency of vitamin B and biotin, hormonal imbalance, strong chemicals in cosmetics, changes in body ( as during pregnancy and menopause).
Other causes may be hypothyroidism, use anti-cancer drugs and treatments, and poor circulation in the scalp region.
Nutritional Help
Restrict tea, coffee and refined carbohydrates completely in your diet because these substances interfere with absorption of nutrients necessary for hair growth. Increase consumption of iron, vitamin B, iodine and vitamin E rich foods in your diet. These foods are brown rice, oily fishes, green leafy vegetables and sunflower seeds.
Herbal Help
Kelp flakes, astragalus and rosemary are very helpful in increasing hair growth. Essential oil of rosemary should be massaged into the scalp frequently. It improves circulation of scalp.
Hair Packs
Soak 5 tbsp of gooseberry powder in water overnight. Add 2 tbsp of lemon juice to the paste and apply to the roots and all over hair. Let it dry for 1 to 2 hours then wash with a little warm water. If hairs are dry then add few drops of sesame or olive oil.
Boil the petals of hibiscus flower in pure coconut oil. Massage into the hair when still warm, using cotton ball.
Soak fenugreek seeds overnight and prepare a paste in the morning. Fenugreek leaves can also be used. Apply the paste to the roots. Use a herbal rinse to wash the hair.
Soak almonds until they are soft to be crushed and made into a paste. Mix with warm clarified butter and gently massage into the hair. The remedy not just improves circulation but adds shine and volume to the hair.
Eggs contain ready to be absorbed proteins and vitamins for the hair. Beat two eggs and apply to the hair using a cotton ball. Cover hair with shower cap. Rinse well.
