All About Sarpagandha

The Indian herb Sarpgandha has been used since ages to promote better health. The herb, pharmacologically known as Rauwolffia Serpentine, is an active ingredient in medications used to treat Insomnia.

Sarpgandha is a bitter herb and as far as it’s energetic are concerned, It channels through the circulatory system, reproductive system, Mental health and nervous system. It`s Post –digestion effect is pungent.

Preferably, Sarpgandha is given in addition to other herbs. This not only enhances the medicinal effect but provides additional advantages. To relieve, it is given in combination with ginger, turmeric and fennel.

To decrease the blood pressure and pacify palpitation, it is given in combination with cardamom, rose and arjuna. To calm down the nerves, Sarpgandha is mixed with Brahmi, licorice, gotu kola and jatamamsi.

Sarpgandha acts as a powerful sedating tranquilizer. It nourishes the nerves and provides rejuvenation to the system. It works as a tonic for the circulatory system as well. It dilates the blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow easily and hereby decrease the blood pressure. But is must be given in calculated doses only.

Too much may cause hypotension. It also helps in the conditions of atherosclerosis caused due to high blood pressure.

Sarpgandha provides relief in conditions of Dysmennorhea. The spasmodic uterus can be healed with calculated doses of Sarpgandha. It is equally good in other forms of spasms and intestinal inflammation.

No matter good this herb is, it can not be taken by all. The pregnant women and those women who are on breast feeding must not consume Sarpgandha for any reason. Asthmatic patients should also not take it. Since it is a sedative, it must not be consumed by people suffering form depression. It is not for kidney pains and ulcers.

Sarpgandha must never be mixed with alcohol due to its sedative properties. It consumed in large doses, it leads to decreased libido and increased weight.
