Acidity No More
Acidity is so common these days and a terrible condition. You may take my word on it as I myself am a victim to acidity. The importance here is to understand the needs to your body and obviously your gastric system.
Acidity is interpreted as secretion of gastric secretions (gastrin, etc) in excess by the gastric glands. Normally, various enzymes and acids are secreted in order to digest food particles, like pepsin and HCL. Under-secretion causes discontinued digestion of food and over-secretion causes acidity.
Spicy food, low in fiber are main causes of acidity. Stress and disturbed timing of meals intake is another factor. Also, due to excessive smoking and alcohol the mucus membranes of stomach may not work properly. Obesity too leads to acidity.
Some simple herbal remedies include boiling of cumin seeds in water and drinking it with your meals. One glass is sufficient per meals. Also freshly prepared mint juice works amazingly to relieve you from daily acidity problems. Herbal teas too have known to provide relief during acidity. Herbal teas that contain liquorice and pudina when taken instead of caffeinated teas or coffee provide benefit to gastric discomfort.
Also, teas of Tulsi (basil leaves) is good. You may even chew on the herb. You are not much fond of tea then simply sip in mint juice after meals. Other herbs that benefit you from acidity are clove. You may simply take a piece of clove and suck it like a lozenge.
Another amazing remedy is to mix 1tsp amla with juice of chebulic myrobalan (1 table spoon). Drink it daily and see the results for yourself. Also portions of ginger with coriander simple extinguish gastric fire. You may also mix ginger extract with mint and consume 4-5 times a day.
No matter how many herbal preparations you follow unless you are not following a healthy life-style none would provide long-term relief. You must never skip meals. Water acts as neutralizer of acid so drink lots of water. Long walks are also beneficial in keeping gastric functions going on.
