7 Ways To Treat Vomiting At Home

Vomiting is not a disease or a disorder of the body. It is just a symptom that can be triggered by a variety of factors. Sometimes, a simple case of indigestion too can cause vomiting. Women experience more episodes of vomiting in their life than men, mostly because majority of women have morning sickness during their pregnant months.

Vomiting mostly occurs when we have some sort of stomach upset caused by diseases like gastroenteritis, eating too much food, food poisoning etc. As vomiting causes an unpleasant feeling in your mouth, no one would want the sensation to linger for long. Try these home remedies when you have vomiting.

1. Water

The most severe cases of vomiting are always followed by dehydration of the body which can be dangerous. This is why taking gallons of water is very essential when you vomit. Water can be taken as fruit juices which will also nourish the body as you vomit. Taking abundant water will also help in removing the toxic waste which could have accumulated in the body during food poisoning.

2. Ginger

A simple home remedy for vomiting and associated pains, chew ginger 3-4 times a day and prevent the episode from surfacing again. The spicy taste of ginger will also help in removing the unpleasantness that you feel during vomiting. Ginger also has anti spasmodic effects that help in stopping the vomiting.

3. Mint

The coolness offered by mint and its refreshing taste can immediately mask the vomiting sensation. Mint is widely used for all kinds of irritation of the stomach and the esophageal region. Mint is also capable of removing all the bacterial and viral action inside the stomach, thereby acting as a cleansing agent that will put an end to all kinds of troubles of the stomach and also vomiting.

4. Cloves

Cloves too can stop the disagreeable feeling accompanied by vomiting. The eugenol present in cloves have qualities that are comparable to mint and therefore helps in giving a sensation of cool and freshness, leaving your mouth refreshed. Either chew on some cloves or prepare an infusion by boiling it with some water for 10 minutes. Cool and take it 2-3 times a day.

5. Cinnamon Sticks

Another aromatic spice that can shift the attention of the nerves from the vomiting sensation and provide a refreshing change from the symptoms, cinnamon sticks are medicinal as well as aromatic, helping the stomach clear away all kinds of digestive disorders. Prepare an infusion by adding a teaspoon of cinnamon powder with one cup of water. Cool and use it 3-4 times a day.

6. Salt And Sugar Solution

Sometimes vomiting in all its severity can shift the electrolyte balance of the body. To combat the loss of minerals and to prevent dehydration, take a glass of water and add 1/4th teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of sugar and mix well. Drink this 3-4 times a day to regain the fluid balance of the body during vomiting.

7. Apple Cider Vinegar

For vomiting that is related to stomach infections and indigestion, apple cider vinegar is a wonderful remedy. Take one cup of water and one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Drink this 2-3 times a day to stop the vomiting and indigestion.
